Focus On...email

It's the creature from the cyberswamp! It's swallowing up your time and costing you thousands of dollars. And it's making you, your colleagues and your clients crazy!
It's e-mail!

How much time are you spending every day on e-mail? I mean writing it, reading it, trying to figure it out, filing it, acting on it, replying to it—trying in vain to manage it!

If you're like me—and just about everybody I know who works— the answer is it's longer than you'd like and getting longer every day. And it never stops, does it? No matter how often you reply to e-mail, it just keeps on coming—ALL DAY, EVERY DAY! Just like all the swamp creatures in those old horror movies, you can shoot them, chop off their arms, stab them—and then you turn around and they're coming back at you again. That's e-mail!

Well, I got just as fed up as you with this problem, and lots of my clients got fed up too, and they asked me to help. This is a great technology, and it really can be a marvellous tool for getting things done at work—but we need to take control of it instead of letting it control us.

Now I didn't want to burden you with a thick book or a long program, so I've synthesized my best tools and tips into this concise, easy to read, fast to absorb e-report. Here are some of the things you'll learn when you read it:

  • How to bring order out of the e-mail chaos
  • How to deal with those pesky e-mail lists—yours and other people's
  • What to do with online jokes and othr pass-alongs
  • Nine tools to bring it all together
  • How to write better e-mail

Let's just do a spot of arithmetic. As I write this, I don't know whether you are a CEO or a clerk, and I don't know what your annual salary is, but just for the sake of this little exercise let's say it's $50,000. And let's say you spend just two hours a day reading, writing and managing e-mail. That's an annual cost of $12,000 right there. You know as well as I do that two hours a day is a very conservative estimate for most of us, so that figure is potentially much higher. If you really are a CEO, I dare you to do the arithmetic and calculate how much this is costing your company as a whole. It can easily get up there to millions of dollars.

My e-report, "Taming the Creature from the Cyberswamp," can start you on your way to reclaiming a lot of that time and money. And all this costs the ridiculously low price of just U.S.$9.95!

"Extremely helpful and concise. A valuable tool for anyone who needs guidance on the communications medium of the time. It certainly makes you think twice before you actually send a message via email. Every new and existing employee should receive this publication as part of their ongoing training in people skills." — Rose, Toronto
